To the professionals who use Yahoo Answers?

I see several questions being answered by professionals, Doctors, Dentists, Teachers, Policemen, Nurses, People with University Degrees.

Does anyone agree that there should be a separate Yahoo Answers section in which ONLY professionally qualified or professionally experienced people were allowed to answer and only on their own specialized subject.

It could be mandatory for the contributor to declare exactly what is their qualification to provide an answer. This could filter out the DIY armchair experts.

This could very much improve the quality of advice for people requiring help about serious problems where only a correct answer will do such as clinical depression, upcomming court appearances, business and economics questions or research required for school, college or university.

To the professionals who use Yahoo Answers?
Yes I do think there should be.
Reply:How could you be sure they were what they said they were. Then wouldn't they need to be paid for their services. And be liable for any harm they may have caused.
Reply:I would, as if you ask me a question about child custody laws in Michigan, I will just pass it by.
Reply:Good idea but in practice i dont think it would work,i think it would be a good idea to have a sister Q/A where no points where awarded, this would stop alot of the morons, and people i think would be more genuine. Its hard to believe but some people just answer for points, god knows what they intend to do with them.
Reply:While I see your point, I think typically there are more creditable venues to explore questions of a serious nature...I think weeding out the good answers from the crap is what makes this site entertaining, whatever your level of education.
Reply:oh come on, the only fun in yahoo asnwers is that it is from misc. people, it a "professional" answers, who cares, they are only just another person. and if some one says "i am a doctor" i would believe that statement 1% of the time on the internet.
Reply:This place seems to be for people who want opinions, help with homework, or maybe just to find out how other people handled a certain situation.

If someone needed help with clinical depression, upcomming court appearances, business and economics questions, etc, I would recommend that they seek professional guidance from a doctor, lawyer, accountant, etc instead of relying on what they found "on the Internet." from an unreliable source.
Reply:NO
Reply:what would they have to do ...show their professional license? ...no it will not work..any one could say they are a professional
Reply:I think that would be a great idea as long as their was a way to prove their credentials. As i have gotten answers from many who knew what they were talking about I get more who say they do but do not.

The only down side i see in it is that why would anyone ask the other members any questions when they have experts around? Sure i know many questions do not require an expert but many I believe will get into their minds that anything they ask is important enough for an expert, and in saying that i would think the expert section may get bombed with many unrelated questions.
Reply:Similar question in the YA survey I just did. better to be able to direct your question at an acknowledged YA expert.
Reply:You can't circumvent the fools - it's impossible.

Anyone with a serious question relevant to thier lives will get a decent answer from someone - there are a plenty of educated people here.

Would you like any help on linguistics? - I hold a British masters degree.

Buff.
Reply:Good idea: But people who usually do that charge money.
