Shouldn't we be able to experiment with terminally ill patients?

I understand the need for consent etc, but I have seen first hand (as a research assistant in a cancer hospital) how our clinical trials have been beneficial to science if not only to the patient. If treatment or part of an experiment can be performed in a reasonable amount of time, why can't terminally ill patients be forced to undergo the treatment that may prolong their lives? What is the problem with this? I am in dental school and some day hope to work in research with oral cancer. I'm baffled by these regulations. What's the big deal??

Shouldn't we be able to experiment with terminally ill patients?
Because in our last days on earth we do not want to be possible tortured .

Why not make up you will to say this is what you want done to you. gee i cannot believe such a question should even be considered.
Reply:Would you volunteer if you are in their shoes?
Reply:OMG! If your Mom was suffering with a debilitating disease, would you want her offered up as a Guinea pig? Aren't the terminally ill, suffering enough?
Reply:You are one blood-thirsty Frankenstein. It will cost you your future license some day.
Reply:This has to be a joke.

The answer to this question is because of a moral decision instead of a scientific decision. We are humans and life is valued in our speices.

Perhaps you should go through a psychological exam to see if you are fit to even be a dentist if you are not joking.
Reply:I do not think that it can be ethical in any stretch of the imagination to force any patient to take any type of medication, especially for the purposes of scientific research.

Think about the can of worms that could be opened here....a highly unethical doctor could do something (such as Mengele at Auschwitz) in the name of scientific research, that would not take into consideration their pain and suffering.

Don't you think that a person who is about to die should be allowed some dignity and consideration?

If you are going to go into medical research, I sincerely hope that you will take into account each and every person you are dealing with and not just treat them as some statistic. Because if you don't, what happens if someday you are the terminally ill patient and some doctor wants to experiment on you against your wishes?
Reply:You can not force some one to take a exper drugs if they do not want to
Reply:It is the choice of the person. It's not your place to force them to undergo any treatment. That is like putting them on life support when they checked no on the form. That is like holding them down and forcing them to take a medication.

You have to respect the rights of the patient.

BTW you are a Grade A MORON!!
Reply:Hey Hitler, your mustache is getting kind of shaggy. Say hi to Eva for me.
Reply:Doctor Mengele did also expetiments in Auschwitz. Where do you draw the line?
Reply:uh.......youre a f#$king idiot?
Reply:You want to force people to undergo treatments for scientific purposes? I think you should never be able to force someone to do anything, let alone participate in research.

What is terrible about the FDA regulations is that terminally ill patients often can't recieve these potentially life-saving drugs because they are deemed unsafe.
