Were you fooled by Michael J Fox's misleading (false) tv ads?

The one where he says (falsely) that certain Republican politicians are opposing "science"that holds "promise" to cure diseases like Alzheimers and Parkinson's?

He even said that Talent (in Missouri) wanted to "criminalize the science" that would bring cures.

first of all, Talent is and has VOTED for stem cell research and supporting it.

What he HASN'T voted for is "embryonic" stem cell research, which has produced no cures.

They have been working and doing embryonic stem cell research for 13 years and spending billions of dollars on it.

In all that time, there have been ZERO breakthroughs. .

zero discoveries . .

The kind of stem cell research Talent and the other Republicans Fox is lying about HAVE voted for spending tax money on is "adult stem cell research"

which HAS brought dozens of cures. .

it has resulted in 72 different clinical cures, while Embryonic stem cell research has resulted in NONE!

he doesn't tell you that part.

Were you fooled by Michael J Fox's misleading (false) tv ads?
I wasn't fooled.

It is unbelievable that the lie that embryonic stem cells are the secrets to all cures is running so rampant.

You are correct, there isn't any promising studies done with them...NONE.

And by reading the other answers, I can see why everyone is so fooled. First of all, there is a difference between embryonic stem cells, and adult stem cells. They are having much better luck with adult stem cells than embryonic.

Also, the answer above me says something about Michael J Fox faking it- now where in your question does say anything about him faking. People just repeat whatever they have been spoon-fed.
Reply:Michael is speaking the truth.
Reply:Thank you Amy for saying what I was noticing. A lot of people glibly say they are for stem cell research without knowing much about it. Just some cool science thing they have heard something about. Private money is going everything in stem cell research except embryonic stem cell. The ones pushing the amendment are the ones who are in a position to multiply their 28 million dollar investment many times over taken from taxpayers.

MJ Fox was misinformed, uninformed, or is lying. Also he is backing candidates who have voted against what he claims to be wanting. Now what kind of stupid is that?
Reply:It really hasn't swayed my vote either way.I personally can't for the life of me understand why taxpayers have to pay for cures.Pharmaceutical companies would most likely lobby against anything that cures and puts them out of business.Don't tell me that they are the heroes. I'm not voting for MJ Fox anyway. What 72 cures? Where's your link?

Reply:You can't honestly say he's lying unless you yourself know the whole truth. If you had a disease and someone had the possibility of a cure, what would you do? You'd fight everyway possible to get that cure.
Reply:ditto to the above ppl. is he faking? no he lives with it !
Reply:Well it takes more than few years to find cures or treatments with such a advance technique. Argument is its potential out weighs all that time/money investment. Stem cells havn't brought 'cures' in any area yet. Results probably have been seen in many areas, but clinical trials and publication on studies don't count as 'cures.' Fox may be misleading, but you're just as misled about it. Far right wing commentary isn't good source for scientifc subjects either.
Reply:Because no breakthroughs have happened we should abandon research? How's that cure for cancer going?
Reply:Do you make fun of blind people , or the mentally handicapped . I'll bet you make old lady's stand while you set . I can tell you know nothing about Parkinson's or the medicines they take . I'll bet your a ditto head .
Reply:false or not. im all for stem cell research and anyone who backs it.
