Speech Pathologist hired as a Communications Specialist for a Corporation?

My husband spoke to a recruiter who briefly mentioned that companies in the Midwest are now hiring people with degrees in speech pathology as communications specialists within companies. The position isn't "communication specialist," as that tends to bring up notions of advertising or PR positions. Rather, it involves working within the company to help different groups communicate more efficiently. Also, they work with branches of the company in different countries to ensure they work well together.

I don't have a liscense (I did research, rather than clinical work), and I'm interested in finding out more about this kind of work. Any ideas on what this position may be listed as?
